Your wardrobe is full, but you still feel like you have nothing to wear? That’s exactly how I felt for a long time! I tried everything – from minimalist basics to bold trend pieces – and eventually realized that the right mix of both is the key for me.
Over the years, I’ve learned that my style isn’t just about clothes; it’s a reflection of my personality. Today, I’m sharing my insights with you and offering tips on how to find the perfect balance between timeless classics and trendy highlights. Because fashion shouldn’t just look good – it should reflect who you are!
Fashion fades, style is eternal.

These Essentials are always a Good Choice
A timeless look is based on high-quality basics that can be mixed and matched, never going out of style. Therefore, I always turn to brands like COS, ARKET, Uniqlo, and & Other Stories. It’s so easy to find well-made and affordable everyday must-haves there, just like these:
- A perfectly fitted blazer – adds elegance to any outfit, whether with jeans or a dress
- High-quality basic shirts – in white, beige, or black, they go with everything
- Well-fitted jeans – preferably a pair that flatters your figure
- Timeless leather handbag – a high-quality accessory that lasts for years
- Elegant yet comfortable footwear – loafers or a high-quality pair of white sneakers are always a good choice!
Tip: Focus on quality over quantity! High-quality materials and a good fit make all the difference.
Trends as Highlights – How to Use Them Well
Trends are fun and bring variety to your wardrobe. But not every trend suits every style – and that’s totally okay! I’ve learned to use trends as little highlights, rather than building my entire look around them. My rule of thumb: A classic base + one trendy element = a look that’s modern but not overdone!
Here are some simple ideas:
- Trench coat + bold handbag – The bag adds a fresh pop to a classic look.
- Simple outfit + statement jewellry – Instantly eye-catching!
- Timeless jeans + trendy sneakers – Casual, cool, and current.
What I’ve learned: Not every trend needs to be followed. Just ask yourself: Does this fit my style? Do I like it? If yes, go ahead and try it! If not – just skip it. 😉
Fashion Is More Than Just Clothes
I used to think fashion was only about looking good. But actually, it’s much more about confidence! When I feel comfortable in my outfit, I radiate that confidence.
A major game-changer for me was realizing that fashion is a tool for self-expression – not something to blindly follow trends with. Since then, I’ve started shopping more intentionally and only wearing pieces that genuinely make me feel confident and comfortable, even if that means having fewer clothes to choose from. Sure, you can then call me an outfit repeater – but when you look put-together, no one can argue with that.
The Perfect Mix Is the Key!
I love putting together my wardrobe with classic pieces and trendy accents. That way, I feel comfortable, can evolve, and still stay true to my style. And the best part? My wardrobe is no longer a puzzle – I know exactly what to wear!
What about you? Are you more into timeless pieces, or do you love trying out new trends?
